Vocational education and training

Vocational education and training (VET) is education focused on practical skills and knowledge for specific a job or trade.

VET combines on the job training with learning from an approved registered training organisation (RTO) or TAFE to gain a nationally recognised qualification.

Whether you are starting out in the workforce or looking to move up in your career, there are a range of VET options to help you on your way to your chosen career.

VET enables you to gain high quality, nationally recognised employment qualifications and is designed to help you get the skills you need to enter and succeed in the workplace.

VET is not just for traditional trades, it also encompasses hundreds of different occupations and industries, including accounting, retail, care sector, hospitality, technology and the arts.

A VET course can help you learn a new skill, get a job through an apprenticeship or traineeship, and earn money while you learn on the job.

The flexibility of VET means that a qualification can be undertaken at school, the workplace, and RTO.

Courses are available full-time, part-time, online or through an apprenticeship or traineeship.

Qualifications can also be attained through recognition of prior learning and skills assessment.
